This 500 m² Beaconsfield garden was dominated by a sprawled 100m² terrace, with drainage
problems. A solution was needed to help bring the garden back to the house and create
usable living spaces.
The new terrace is stepped making the best use of the space available. While pockets
of planting introduce interest and break the paving into different areas. The Oak
pergola offers a retreat from the midday sun and a seating area is carefully positioned
beyond. The new space incorporates the functionality of an outdoor living area whilst
blending back into the natural surroundings.
The drainage problems were solved by an 8m² soak away. Positioned beneath the clay
top soil, the whole garden and terrace now freely drains away into the sub soils.
The construction site from beginning to end. planted in October 2009 the Spring will
bring plant structure and form.
